September Weekend Adventure

It has just been a whirlwind lately! This past weekend we were able to take another little adventure...this time to Leesville and Shreveport!

Our first stop was to the opening home game of the Leesville High School Wampus Cats where Pops was the "Man on the Field"! This was Harrison's first football game ever...and he had a blast! We were also proud to see Coach Robert Causey's home debut as the head football coach! My favorite part of the evening was watching Lily and Harrison run all over the field...just like I used to after games! It was quite the adventure!

Admittedly, I'm not the best photographer...but I love how I caught Coach Causey giving a player a high five. Just to give his old players an update...he didn't break any clipboards this game! ;) He did great and y'all would have been proud!

Even after a late night, Pops still took the Henry kiddos to the Donut Shop the next day!

While the kiddos stayed with GranZee and Pops, Chris and I head to Shreveport to celebrate with some super fun folks! We got a little fancy...

and it was fantastic to see Chris connect with all his ol' college buddies!

Irregardless, it was such a great time! The next time LSU plays LA Tech, we are in for some fun! ;) After such a fun night...this is how we all felt...

While this was all a blast, we are looking forward to a weekend at home coming up! Whew!

Happy Easter!

Oh what a wonderful weekend we had! We traveled to Leesville for our annual Easter visit and, as always, it was just eggs-cellent! ;) This is an incredibly stressful and busy time for both Chris and I, so a little weekend away from it all was much needed. We packed the van on Friday and made our way to the big LV! 

Not to deviate too much from our regularly scheduled program, we headed straight to Fox's Pizza...because it was Friday night and we eat pizza on Friday night. EVERY. FRIDAY. NIGHT. I'm actually quite thankful that Fox's Pizza was not around when I lived in Leesville because it's delicious and I would have eaten there constantly. Running into friends was the icing on the cake! 

Once the kiddos were in bed, the adults relaxed on the couch and watched a movie in our pjs. Scott is the ultimate VIP at the local library and is constantly given random (and sometimes brand new) movies to enjoy before the masses. This time is was "Mom's Night Out" and it was cute. Following  the evening of a few stressed out moms, plans get derailed and hilarity ensues. While I enjoyed the general message of the movie, I had a couple critiques. The main one being the stereotype that dads aren't capable of watching their children alone and moms aren't capable of letting go. Let me just say this....dads aren't babysitting their children...they are parenting their children...stop using the term babysitter...it kills me! Dropping the mic and stepping away from the soap box...

Saturday morning we woke up without an alarm clock and just enjoyed the morning. Sarah arrived and we headed out the meet Uncle Steve at the "ranch". Now, if you need some enjoyment, it would be in your best interest to friend my Uncle Steve on Facebook. He is hilarious! For a few weeks, I've laughed out loud each time he talked about talking to the cows and their reactions to his soft rock music. Seeing it in action was amazing. When we arrived, he had a hayride ready for us. When we got to the pastures, he was disappointed that there weren't too many cows to see...but then he just started hollering and, I kid you not, the other cows just started running his way! He was just a talking to those cows and they were just a moo'ing back. It was unbelievable...and the Henry kiddos ATE IT UP! Those two kiddos loved riding in the tractor, crawling all over the hay, petting the chickens, and watching the cows! After a full day of running around the ranch, an easy night was a must. We enjoyed some of GranZee's spaghetti with Uncle Alan and Uncle Steve before dying a few eggs and heading to bed! 

Sunday morning, our alarm clock was Lily...she was excited to see if the Easter Bunny visited...and of course, he did! The kiddos enjoyed their treats while GranZee made cinnamon rolls that looked like bunnies before heading to church at East Leesville Baptist Church. The Henrys were decked in seersucker (well three out of four) when Lily informs us that she was going to sit in Big Church. Oh yay! ;) She was actually quite behaved...thanks to a sticker/coloring book! We all left service covered in Easter stickers!

After church, we had a brief photo session, changed, cooked, and headed out to "A-hole Hill". It was a gorgeous day and our traditional Easter meal was delicious! While the Henrys skipped the BBQ chicken, we did enjoy the potato salad, deviled eggs, mac & cheese, and baked beans...topped off with homemade lemon ice cream by Uncle Alan! The kiddos loved running around, searching for eggs, and exploring while we just enjoyed each others company! It was perfect! I didn't take nearly enough photos...but enjoy!

As you can see, it was an amazing weekend! I'm seriously dreading returning to the "real world" tomorrow...but alas, I must. (insert sad face)

Weekend Wrap Up {October 4}

What a fabulous first weekend of October! We rocked the windows open all weekend and it has been so enjoyable! With a break from weddings, we were able to really enjoy each other this weekend and it has been fabulous!

The weekend was really kicked off in a festive way with Friday being LSU Fall Fest. Who can't get in the spirit at that event? It's just so much fun and the weather was really perfect! I volunteered to help and ended up passing out burgers. How funny is that...the vegetarian passing out burgers! Now that is LSU love! ;)

A low key evening was Friday night due to Saturday being such a big deal...Lily's first soccer game! Oh, how excited I was to get her ready for her first game! Frozen themed shin-guards...check! Frozen themed cleats...check! Superheros (her team name!) uniform...check! We were off! Little did we realize how chilly it was actually going to be on the field...so Daddy dropped the girls off to head back to the house to get jackets!

As expected...the first game was hilarious! A bunch of 4 year olds running around chasing after a ball...with no strategy, no communication, and basically no idea what they are doing. It was amazing! Lily was really into it for about five minutes...and then she was done. She was the best combination of Charlie Brown and Daria. You'll notice in the photos to follow that she (number 7) isn't really in a lot of the action shots...

I know I'm not supposed to be keeping score...but thanks to the adorable little blonde brothers on the team, we won 16-2! Go Superheros indeed! ;) I think after a couple more games, she'll get pretty into it. Until then, I'll keep cheering from the sideline to "Pay attention! Stay with the ball! No hands! Go Lily  Go!" Also, how cute are these two:

We spent the remainder of the afternoon grocery shopping and puttering around the house! Little man had a hard time keeping up...

As with every first weekend of October, I finally start decorating for Fall! I didn't go crazy over the weekend, but I did put out a few of our fall decor!

Brand new flag pole finally hung! Yay!

Yes...we are inflatable people. Sigh...

Hard to see, but we have little trio of yarn candy corn, a candy corn themed H, and a little pumpkin! Hoping to add some real pumpkins and maybe some mini-hay bails this week!

I don't do a lot of decorating inside...but I added a couple spices to our entry table.

I'll add a little here and a little there throughout the month. But out main focus will be costumes...that is where we tend to shine this time of year! I think we have narrowed down our various costumes so stay tuned! They should be fun!

Probably the most difficult thing we finally tackled this weekend was saying adios to the nighttime bottle for Harrison. Yes...you read that right. Even though that child is 19 months, I've still be rocking that sweet boy to sleep each night with a little bottle. I know, awful and selfish...but I loved it and wanted to keep him a baby as long as I could! It has been long overdue, but we finally ditched it. The transition has been a little rough, but I know it's so overdue and necessary. Now, we will just have to cuddle and rock as we read his night-time story. Don't mind me...I'll just be over her sobbing into my pillow.

OH! I almost forgot! One crazy little thing I did do this weekend was sign up to be a rep for Beauty Society! Random, I know...but, I've been using the skincare and make up products for about a year now and really enjoy them! So, I took the plunge and I'm really excited! Don't worry, I'm not going to spam your social media or constantly invite you to parties...but I'll share my journey here and if you want to know more, just ask!

All in all, it was another amazing weekend. This time of year is just so tough because there is so much going on between football season, now soccer season, and, of course, wedding season. I love, love, love weddings...but sometimes a weekend off is just the perfect thing! I did a couple bridal meetings and had a lovely visit at Houma's House, but all in all, it was a gorgeous weekend at home loved up on my sweet family! There is just nothing better!

My goals for the week ahead are to love on my family, be a positive person at work, gear up for an awesome Truly Haute wedding, catch up on my readings, blog an amazing meal, and wake up each morning for a quick run! We'll see...
